EFG Laos’ 5th DQ Store is Now Open

February 6th, 2020 Vientiane – The latest addition to the DQ family opened its doors on February 6th and is located right next to a tourist hotspot in Vientiane, the That Luang temple, a national symbol for Laos and the summit of a famous Buddhist yearly festival.

Texas Chicken operated by EFG Laos is also situated inside the venue—in order to create a versatile food hub for its many guests.

While the location is certainly very popular with visiting tourists, it is also the Laotian’s favorite area for after-work runs and group exercising, as well as a cultural center displaying many different exhibitions organized throughout the year.

All the activity in the area makes it an ideal spot to promote brand awareness and to continue serving patrons new and old.

TCC Organized Business Talks

January 21st, 2020 Phnom Penh – The first ever “TCC Business Talks” event was held at The Coffee Club street Pasteur in Phnom Penh, as part of EFG’s Employee Engagement strategic projects. The event was organized by the People Passion team whose purpose is to encourage initiatives towards health, education and environment protection. The participants were members of the EFG leadership regional team, coming  from Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar and Laos. They were greeted by The Coffee Club team in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. On the occasion, JB Roux presented a summary of Michael Bungay Stanier’s best-selling book “The Coaching Habit: say less, ask more, and change the way you lead forever” in which the author gives practical and easy to use tips to develop coaching habits at work as well as in everyday life. During the evening, the EFG leaders were offered a special menu designed for the opportunity by Chef Kimlay with a mix of Western and Cambodian delicacies.

More events of the kind will be organized in the future by the People Passion Team and The Coffee Club is happy to host more gatherings in the near future for members of the various business communities in Cambodia.

EFG Welcomes a Sleek New Office

January 8th, 2020 Phnom Penh – EFG excitingly celebrated a New Office Inauguration Day held in City Tower Building, to welcome and present the new working space to employees, customers and suppliers.

The celebration was complete with a blessing ceremony, during which monks blessed the office grounds and wished prosperity for the company and its employees, along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new space.

Designed to promote collaboration, the new office features sleek interior design, glass fittings and an airy, open workspace. From here, EFG can continue serving Cambodia as its largest F&B company – especially given its recent acquisition of Cambodian market rights for The Coffee Club. On top of that, the modern office space makes EFG an attractive place to work for prospective employees.

The new office space demonstrates and contributes to EFG’s continual growth in the country.

EFG Cambodia Offers New Food Safety Training

December 24th, 2019 Phnom Penh – Ensuring food safety benchmarks are met and exceeded, TPC of EFG Cambodia held a food safety training at RMAC headquarters, led by a qualified trainer from Ecolab.

17 participants from TPC, including training managers, area coaches, store managers and other operators received the three-hour course on food security. They were given a refresher on food safety standards and actionable food safety management techniques.

EFG Cambodia these courses to increase customer confidence in food safety and build their trust.

EMCAT Held Christmas Performance at Phnom Penh International Airport

December 23rd, Phnom Pen 2019 – A group of children from Don Bosco organization in Cambodia are performing Christmas songs in Phnom Penh International Airport, at both landside and airside. Every year, EMCAT is offering these children the opportunity to perform and cheer the crowd of passengers arriving or leaving the city. A moment of happiness was shared with everyone and appreciated by the travelers, their families and the airport staff alike.

The Pizza Company Holds the 2019 Excellence Award

December 17th, 2019 Phnom Penh – The Pizza Company held its 9th consecutive Pizza Excellence Award, bringing staff from all 34 stores across Cambodia to The Pizza Company World Bridge Arena, where teams competed in a final round for the 2019 Excellence Award title. 

The Pizza Excellence Award was initiated to promote team bonding, form strong company culture, and most importantly, facilitate 100% customer satisfaction. Teams are tested on how well they can follow high standards of operations in all areas including dough making, pizza making, pasta making, appetizers and drinks preparation, and customer service for dining in, take-away, and home delivery.

“At The Pizza Company, we take pride in bringing joy to every one of our customers. This excellence award recognizes the hard work our teams put in each day to deliver the highest customer satisfaction. Over the years, we’ve witnessed the growth of this awards in tandem with the marked growth of our team. We’re very proud of the work everyone has put in to make this happen,” said Virak Tep, General Manager of EFG Cambodia.  

Teams of nine, comprised of a restaurant manager, host, cashier, customer service, dough maker, pizza maker, appetizer maker, pasta cook and delivery man, from seven cities trained for months before the competition. Team members are carefully selected from each restaurant – they must exhibit leadership skills, are a proven key player who excels in standards of operations and demonstrate that they are the best resource for internal promotion when needed.

Results of the competition are:

EFG Celebrated Its 6th Family Fun Day








December 14th, 2019 Phnom Penh – EFG Cambodia celebrated its annual ‘EFG Family Fun Day’ with a relaxing getaway at a resort outside Phnom Penh joined by over 150 employees and their children.

Since 2014, EFG Cambodia has been treating employees and their loved ones to a day full of pampering and fun, as a way to bring families together and thank employees for the hard work they do year-round.

“At EFG, we emphasize employee wellness and a healthy work-life balance. This annual tradition is one of the ways we like to say thank you to our employees – it’s a joy watching everyone come together, connect and unwind for a day,” stated Virak Tep, General Manager EFG Cambodia.

At the start of this event, everyone headed to a pagoda near the resort to make merits by offering monks The Pizza Company pizza and Krispy Kreme doughnuts while receiving lessons and words of wisdom. Making merits is an important part of Buddhist culture and is considered a virtuous way to start the new year.

Once at the resort, EFG set up games and activities and a full spread of food for everyone to indulge in. Fun being the highlight, EFG Family Fun Day is also an opportunity for families to connect and for everyone to get to know their colleagues better.

As EFG puts the spotlight on healthy work-life balance, more activities promoting wellness will be coming throughout 2020.

Swensen’s Celebrates its Fourth Excellence Award

November 28th, 2019 Phnom Penh – Since 2015, Swensen’s Cambodia has been celebrating the Swensen’s Excellence Award to recognize outstanding employees, encourage teamwork and aim for 100% customer satisfaction. This year’s Excellence Award was held at the Kampuchea Krom Boulevard branch, joined by eight teams from Phnom Penh, Battambang and Siem Reap.

The awards were divided into three categories: Swensen’s Excellence Award, Best Product Award, and Best Service Award.

Teams worked together to tackle a set of challenges that each focused on demonstrations of high-quality standards and service. They were judged on the final product served to customers, with the rankings given on quality, safety, cleanliness and customer service.

“The Swensen’s Excellence Awards represents the dedication we put into our service and products, ensuring that each year, our teams perform above and beyond. Swensen’s continues to invest in tools that empower our teams to follow our mission: delighting all our guests,” said Virak Tep General Manager, EFG Cambodia.

Three groups were announced award winners. Aeon Mall Phnom Penh won the Swensen’s Excellence Award, the Battambang branch won Best Product Award while Sorya Mall won Best Service Award.

Bar-B-Q Plaza Celebrates Grand Reopening of Sorya Mall Store

November 25th, 2019 Phnom Penh – Bar-B-Q Plaza, famed for its suki and quality meats, celebrated the reopening of its newly renovated Sorya Mall store on November 25th, which has been rebuilt to be the top venue of its kind in one of Phnom Penh’s biggest shopping centers.

The newly upgraded store includes a refreshed interior that customers will love. To introduce the new space to fans, Bar-B-Q Plaza held a ribbon cutting ceremony complete with special entertainment performances, including a dance group. Famous across Cambodia for its signature meat and fresh ingredients, this is now the 5th Bar-B-Q Plaza in the country.

Krispy Kreme Celebrates in Halloween Fun

October 31st, 2019 Phnom Penh – The recent holidays have not slowed Krispy Kreme down one bit as the team kept busy with guest visits to the Krispy Kreme Factory in Boeung Keng Kang.

Students from Harrods International School took a field trip to watch Krispy Kreme’s doughnut production process and even learned how to make their own. This event gave students the opportunity to learn about the food industry and provided real-world experience in a work setting.

In addition, over Halloween, Krispy Kreme has been supporting many events and parties around town by supplying doughnuts and decorations, staging eating contests and providing food catering service. Some notable customers include over 10,000 students at Western International School and thousands more between East-West International School, SCIA School, and SIS International School.

Krispy Kreme also provided its services to the staff at Raffle Hotel and to the many expats at the yearly family event Tuk Tuk Halloween.
