EFG Myanmar Celebrates July Birthdays

Yangon, July 17th, 2020 – EFG Myanmar organized a special birthday celebration for their employees with birthdays in July.

The celebrations were held at The Pizza company Dagon Centre, Yangon and The Pizza Company in Mingalar, Mandalay. All in all there were 27 EFG staff who celebrate their birthdays in July , 22 from Yangon and 5 from Mandalay.

Each member of staff received a birthday card and special gift from Peter Jones, General Manager EFG Myanmar. Swensen’s staff received TPC vouchers as their special birthday gift, whilst the SW staff received TPC gift vouchers.

EFG Cambodia First Ever Online Workshop

Phnom Penh, June 4th, 2020 – Observing the lockdowns and travel bans in multiple countries, EFG organized its group wide (Quarterly) strategy review on Teams. The two day online workshop had 8 sessions in all, each having 23-25 attendees per session. The workshop was attended by EFG, RMA and Palm’s management team including marketing, finance, supply chain, operations, HR, projects, IT and shared service team.
During the workshop, team members shared their best practices and ethods on how to build team morale and improve cohesion. Business updates, brand evaluation review, coaching, inventory management and new project updates are all discussed in this workshop. It is also an opportunity for EFG to introduces its simple, proven and effective team cultural philosophy called FISH.

As a result, the workshop was a success and allowed EFG to continue to motivate, train and develop the team virtually.

TPC Myanmar Celebrated Mother’s Day

May 10th, 2020 Yangon – To celebrate the annual Mother’s Day, The Pizza Company of EFG Myanmar organized a “Share Love, Share Pizza” and made a visit to the mothers at the Yanking Children Hospital in Yangon. Peter Jones, General Manager EFG Myanmar and 12 team members from the TPC team visited the hospital, and shared delicious pizzas to 80 loving mothers who are doing their best to take care of their children. The pizza boxes were also filled sweet messages by TPC staff to show their respect and encouragement to the mothers and appreciated their contributions to the children and the family.

Cambodia Krispy Kreme and TPC Safety Training

Phnom Penh, May 7th, 2020 – EFG’s Krispy Kreme held a one-day restaurant safety, repair & maintenance training for staff and managers at the Krispy Kreme’s Commissary Kitchen in Phnom Penh. This is the first time that Krispy Kreme has run training at this new facility.


Forty-four restaurant managers were instructed on the awareness and familiarization of safety systems, equipment and meeting points, ensuring safety in the restaurant and evacuation drills. Managers were also given refresher training on the handling of fire fighting equipment.


It is the responsibility of the restaurant manager to ensure that all staff, technicians and contractors on their premises also understand and comply with workplace safety regulations.


Trainer, Daro Luy, EFG’s Repair & Maintenance Manager, will roll this training out The Pizza Company store managers across Cambodia during June.

EFG Day 2020 Cambodia

Phnom Penh, May 1st, 2020– Forty-five EFG  managers participated in the annual EFG Day on International Labour Day, traditionally swapping their office desk and chair to join restaurant staff working in 25 participating stores across all six EFG brands.  

It is the 7th EFG Day and managers and office staff are encouraged to spend the day in the frontline and to experience a day in the life of operational team members. Visiting EFG team members follow the same shifts as operations staff and get a hands on experience in roles such as waitering, preparing meals, store management and working as the cashier.

EFG day is an opportunity for all employees of all walks of life and levels of employment to get together, to connect and foster synergy among one another. It provides a platform for team building and idea sharing. 

EFG Myanmar launches a new concept store for The Pizza Company

Yangon, 27 April 2020 – EFG Myanmar launches a new concept store for The Pizza Company. 

Operating from 170 square metres of space, located in Myanmar’s very first recently opened Makro, this is our 10th The Pizza Company store in Myanmar and EFG’s first ever “Delco with Seats” format. A new exciting pizza concept focused on counter service, takeaway and delivery. Open now for takeaway and delivery. The 46 seat dine-in restaurant will be available once current Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. 

“The addition of the Delco store format will extend our pizza delivery reach and bring more flexible dining options for our customers, “ stated Peter Jones, General Manager of EFG Myanmar. It is the latest innovative example of EFG’s increasing  diversifying of her restaurant portfolio and responding to the changing needs of her customers. It follows the recent launch of 25 strong delivery bike fleet and call centre in Yangon.

Myo Myat Mon Seinn, Marketing Manager for EFG Myanmar added, “our team worked under extremely challenging conditions with current Covid-19 restrictions in place. For example all work had to stop by 7pm to accommodate the evening curfew. We are really excited and grateful to our suppliers and staff as well as our Franchiser Minor Foods Thailand  that we were able to complete the store on schedule to coincide with the opening of Makro.”

Located at no 322 Upper Pazon Taung Rd, Mingalar Taung Nyuny Tsp, Yangon Division. Pizza lovers from neighborhood townships: Mingalar Taung Nyunt, Pazuntaung and Thaketa Township can be served with Pizza takeaway and deliveries from The Pizza Company Makro store. The Grand Opening is scheduled for 1st May 2020.

The Coffee Club Cambodia launches Delivery & Rewards App

March 31st, 2020 Phnom Penh – For the first time since its opening in Phnom Penh in August 2018, The Coffee Club is now proposing its diversified and delicious menu for delivery as well. With an established dine-in and growing take-away business, the famous Australian brand naturally came to home delivery services, made possible thanks to the reactivity of head of brand Sambath Phork and marketing executive Buntheng Tang. Customers have now the possibility of ordering their favorite ice-latte or Pad Thai through either one of the 5 most popular aggregators in town.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions in Place at EFG Cambodia

March 27th, 2020 – As the world faces a coronavirus outbreak, the EFG Cambodia team has been offering each other tremendous support. The health and safety of employees and customers is of the utmost importance to EFG Cambodia. With that being said, stringent safety measures were implemented in their stores starting March 20th, including:

  • Providing hand sanitizer
  • Sanitizing all touch points throughout the day, including delivery items
  • Following stringent hand washing rules and wearing face masks
  • Performing temperature checks
  • Encouraging social distancing among staff

EFG Cambodia is also preparing to ramp up its delivery and takeaway services as more customers stay at home.

Employee health and happiness are both equally important to EFG Cambodia. The team is working on morale boosting initiatives to help employees stay active and in positive spirits.

EFG Lao Supports Interplast, a Program offering Reconstructive and Cleft Repair Surgery

February 9th, 2020 Vientiane – EFG Lao showed their support for Interplast, an Australian organization that provides cleft repair surgery and reconstructive plastic surgeries for children and adult burn victims in Lao.

For over ten years, doctors from Australia have been recruited to join Interplast’s inspiring cause in treating burn victims and children with cleft palates. The programme has also been training local staff at Mahosot Hospital since 1996. EFG leveraged its reach with its large customer base to support Interplasts’ cause, while sharing the love of good food with patients at Mahosot Hospital.

Each of EFG Laos’ four restaurant brands, The Pizza Company, Texas Chicken, Swensen’s and Dairy Queen, and their famous mascots, delighted kids, parents and medical personnel at Mahosot Hospital, bringing plenty of food to go around and lots of positive energy.

On top of lively visits, EFG Lao held a lucky draw at each of its restaurants with funds from raffle tickets used to support Interplast with their operational costs, from transportation to daily expenditures.

“EFG Lao is moved by Interplast’s inspiring cause in helping burn victims and children born with untreated cleft palates. It was such a joy to see the faces of everyone at Mahosot Hospital light up as we brought in food from our stores and our mascots delighted the kids. This was also a great opportunity to reach out to our large customer base for support – with a fun lucky draw involved, in true EFG fashion,” said Nicolas Martin, Business Administration Manager, EFG Lao.

Focusing on the importance of safety, EFG Lao provided their employees with first aid education and ways to prevent burns in the cooking area.

Interplast is one of the many community-aid programs that EFG Lao supports, with each program focused on different facets of community issues.

TPC Opens Two New Stores in Cambodia

February 7th, 2020 Cambodia – EFG Cambodia celebrated an exciting February with the opening of two new The Pizza Company branches located in Calmette in Phnom Penh and Furi Times Square Mall in Sihanoukville.

TPC Calmette in Phnom Penh features sleek, modern Italian-inspired designs that beckon customers to come in and enjoy their time with friends and family. The furnishing is brought in from a previously open TPC store after its lease had expired, ensuring the new store maintains the same vibrant atmosphere that customers love. 

TPC Furi Times Square Mall in Sihanoukville is the 2nd TPC branch to open in the popular coastal city and is conveniently located in the first mall to open there.

As TPC expands in Cambodia, customers will have more location options to enjoy their favorite piping-hot pizzas and more.
